"A Wider World's" presentation of the budget cuts that will hurt those with disabilities

Funding for the Macomb-Oakland Regional Center was cut this fiscal year by $7 million putting services at risk for the 4,400 or so people with disabilities and mental illness that MORC and other nonprofits help live in the community. MORC is funded by the Oakland County Community Mental Health Authority which receives its funding from the state. We must all work together to make political leaders know that the community-based setting created 40 plus years ago to move those with disabilities out of institutions is at risk if these cuts continue. MORC's funding has been flat for a decade while inflation has risen about 30 percent. Jerry
